Fasting Thought Of The Day

Read the Word and pray during what were mealtimes. Meditate on Him when you awakeprayinghands.jpg in the night. Sing praises to Him whenever you please. Focus on your Heavenly Father and make every act one of praise and worship. God will enable you to experience His command to “pray without ceasing” as you seek His presence.

Your motive in fasting must be to glorify God, not to have an emotional experience, and not to attain personal happiness. When your motives are right, God will honor your seeking heart and bless your time with Him in a very special way.

Only two weeks into this fast and I am amazed and astounded by the change He has wrought in me because of my willingness to focus on Him. When I awaken in the middle of the night, I find my heart and spirit in the middle of praises and worship songs…it is like waking to a conversation that was going on even while I was unaware….it is way cool. And, my heightened awareness of His presence has caused me to be very mindful of all of the words I use and the conversations in which I engage. I am truly delighting in all of the blessings that come from being open to correction and being so mindfully in His presence. I am moved to tears on a daily (and sometimes hourly) basis when I ponder the grace and mercy he has bestowed upon me. I am filled with joy and peace…and my circumstances have not changed one iota. Pastor Batterson’s quote about our problems being perceptual and not circumstantial was right on the money. Praise God for the opportunity to see things through His eyes.
