Fasting Thought Of The Day

prayinghands.jpgFasting in itself is of no spiritual value (Isaiah 58; Jeremiah 14:12; I Corinthians 8:8)

“that which is of the flesh is flesh,” John 3:6

but it is the attitude of a heart sincerely seeking Him to which God responds with blessing.

Expectations & Anticipation

I am so excited for this Sunday!  I just have an incredible sense of anticipation for what the Holy Spirit is going to do through this weeks time together with you all.  The word resounding in my heart this week is UNITY.

Let’s all be praying for what He is going to do this weekend!

Open Communication

I spoke with a guy from church last night.  He thanked me for saying what I said on Sunday about confessing to a spouse or parent about any struggles with pornography.  He has a teenage son and the words I spoke on Sunday opened up the doors for them to talk openly about this stuff.  They are now reading a book together and working through some stuff.  Yeah God!

I pray that if you have not yet had a conversation with your spouse or parents and you do struggle with pornography that you would be open enough to talk to them.  You will not get through this on your own, but with their support and the prayers of many you will!

Fasting Thought Of The Day

Moses fasted 40 days and mentored a spiritual son named Joshua, which means the Lord saves. Elijah fasted 40 days and threw his mantle on a double portion son, Elisha, which means the Lord saves. Also, John the Baptist fasted in the desert and prepared the way for a double portion son named Jesus, which means the Lord saves. Jesus fasted 40 days and unleashed the apostolic glory of the eternal Son of God into the Earth. What if we are preparing a generation for the greatest day of salvation in history?

A Request For GCC-er’s This Week

I just emailed this off to everyone but in case you don’t receive my emails or we don’t have your current address I wanted to post this here as well…

Hello GCC-er’s,

I wanted to take a moment and communicate with you all about this weeks Celebration Services.  At both the 8:30am & 10:30am services this week we will be having you check your kids into the Children’s Ministries immediately.  Please check them in as usual in the computer and then bring them directly to their rooms.  We will be approaching our Celebration Services a little differently this week and it will help keep a smooth flow by having the kids out for the whole time.

One other notable point to make; the cafe will be closing at 8:20am and 10:20am in order to get everyone into the sanctuary for the 8:30am & 10:30am start time.  This will not be the week to dawdle or arrive late.  Please arrive with enough time to get a cup of something hot (if that is your routine) prior to 8:20am & 10:20am as we won’t apologize for you missing out if you show up late (that’s my attempt at being firm and yet sarcastic…)

In the meantime, would you join me in praying for this weeks service?  I have truly been blessed to share with all of you what God has been putting on my heart the past few weeks and have been very encouraged by so many of your kind words.  I believe this week the Holy Spirit is leading us to an amazing time together and my prayer is being directed by one word that keeps resounding in my heart – UNITY.

I greatly look forward to this Sunday with you all and thank you in advance for your collective prayers.

Together with Him,
Pastor Kevin

321 Improv Comedy Group

I’m thrilled to have 321 Improv coming to join us on March 9th at GCC. I am part of a Youth Pastors Network here in Concord and we are putting this event on as a joint effort to bring all of our churches together. Comedy is a great platform to bring people together and I know this time together will serve as a catalyst to doing more things together.

Coolest part of the whole event – all the profits go to help us dig clean water wells in Rwanda! Come join us on March 9th at GCC at 6pm for a great night of fun and laughter!

Tickets can be purchased at Grace Capital Church, CenterPoint Church, New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene, or The Bible Bookstore. $10.00 per ticket. This is a family event.

Fasting Thought Of The Day

“First, let fasting be done unto the Lord with our eyes singly fixed on Him. Let our intention herein be this, and this alone, to glorify our Father which is in heaven.”     John Wesley

Me & U(2)…Tonight!

I’m headed to the Imax theater in Hooksett tonight to see U2 3D!  Got a few friends coming with me.  Want to join me?  I’ll be there at 8pm…

Filled With Hope

hope-clean-again-2.jpgI’ve got to say, I’m spent.  This was an exhausting day.  Our Celebration Services this morning were amazing and I fully give credit to the Holy Spirit for bringing a tenderness to people as they heard the words that I was speaking.  It was amazing as the day progressed to see so many groups of people talking and praying with each other.  It was so encouraging to see so many couples being totally honest with each other and having some really tough conversations.

I fully believe that personal repentance and a hunger for more of God brings about great revival.  I can only dream of what we are about to see in this region as God moves even more powerfully.  As we are about 2 weeks into a 40 day fast I am seeing God move in so many ways in so many people’s lives.  I’m so hopeful for what God will continue to do over the next weeks and months as more people press into God and fully rely on Him.

While this morning was not an easy message to speak, I truly felt the prompting of the Holy Spirit to tackle the topic that I did and I am again in pure awe of what God will do through me when I am obedient (maybe there was a little kicking and screaming on my part – but it turned into obedience).  I have never felt as empowered to speak a message and yet filled with trepidation as I did this morning.  Thank you God for once again showing your faithfulness to me!

sidebar: kudos to Jake and the worship team for doing a bang up job on the song “Overcome” this week.  The video that Jorgen put together to flow with this song was equally powerful.  Great job team!  I love the fact that this morning looked identical to what the vision that God gave me for that song looked like.  We should have the video of that song all edited and posted by midweek…

Fasting Thought Of The Day

Read the Word and pray during what were mealtimes. Meditate on Him when you awakeprayinghands.jpg in the night. Sing praises to Him whenever you please. Focus on your Heavenly Father and make every act one of praise and worship. God will enable you to experience His command to “pray without ceasing” as you seek His presence.

Your motive in fasting must be to glorify God, not to have an emotional experience, and not to attain personal happiness. When your motives are right, God will honor your seeking heart and bless your time with Him in a very special way.
